About April and Her Mission
"Open your heart, the rest will follow"
Yoga found me during a time when I truly needed it the most. I was depressed, out of shape, and in a lot of both physical and emotional pain. From it I overcame depression without the use of drugs, lost 50 pounds, and found a happier me that I loved!
I would love to say that one of my first yoga class experiences was a great one, but sadly mine wasn't. She was rude, mean, and didn't care. But it was because of her I got up the courage to take the first steps and become an instructor. Taking her class was like a crash course in what I never wanted to do or become as an instructor, or a person.
I became a yoga instructor because I wanted to help people. Everyone has a reason for walking through my doors and every reason is special and important. Whether that reason is to lose stress or weight, or find themselves on a whole new level.
When the amazing opportunity came to open my own studio I put a lot of thought into how I wanted it to be, and I just don't mean what color curtains to hang. I wanted to create an environment that was welcoming, nurturing, and comforting. Where you can walk in having zero knowledge about yoga and not feel like you have zero knowledge about yoga. I encourage people to ask questions and to listen to their bodies.
I have always believed that yoga is for everyone, and you don't have to be a pretzel to be amazing at it! We all have our personal limits, we all have different bodies; but it's because of this that I think yoga is such an amazing adventure. You learn your own limits, strengths, weaknesses, fears, and hopes right there on the mat and at the end of each and every class you leave feeling renewed; regardless if you worked up a sweat or breathed out a bad day.
I specialize in Core Strength Vinyasa Yoga, Restorative/Yin Yoga, and working with people brand new to yoga. Nothing makes my day more than when someone says to me how they feel amazing, or that they can't believe they are hooked on yoga! Watching my clients reach their goals, and even goals they never intended to set is by far the best reward!
